Bringing AlterCOP to Laos
As Laos represents one of the key enablers of Climate Action in the APAC region, the AlterCOP Global Core Team is delighted to bring AlterCOP's vision to Vientiane to empower local sustainability action and partnerships.
The AlterCOP event in Vientiane, inspired by the UN Climate COP, aims to engage young people and the public in discussions, interactive activities, and exchanges related to climate change, environmental protection, and sustainability. An important part of the event will be encouraging participants to make concrete commitments for climate and environmental action — reflecting on what they can do in their daily lives, workplaces, communities, or organizations, and sharing those commitments to inspire others to take action.
The AlterCOP event is not a commercial or profit-making activity. Participation is free of charge, and it is organized as a public awareness and educational initiative by RGEN and ECONOX, with support from Association Anoulak, across two half-day afternoon sessions — 31 October and 7 November 2026 — each expected to welcome up to approximately 80 participants.

Why it matters
AlterCOP 2026 is more than just a conference — it's the next step in a growing, inclusive movement that:
Connects Vientiane to a wider network of AlterCOP chapters taking climate and nature action across the Asia-Pacific region
Turns awareness into action, giving participants real tools and space to make personal and collective climate and environmental commitments
Is built on collaboration, bringing RGEN, ECONOX, Association Anoulak, and the local community together around a shared, non-commercial platform for public education
Is open to everyone, with a free, walk-in format across two half-day sessions so anyone can take part on their own time
